MINNEAPOLIS, MN – A Minneapolis man with a long history of felony convictions has been sentenced to five years in prison for illegally possessing a firearm. But the case doesn’t end there—authorities found something even more shocking during a search of his home: an inert grenade launcher round. Karonie Daron Streeter, 33, a repeat offender with a violent past, is now facing significant time behind bars after repeatedly ignoring the law.

A Dangerous Past Catches Up

Streeter’s criminal record stretches back to 2010 when he was convicted of a violent crime, which banned him from owning firearms. Despite this, he had already been arrested once before for illegally possessing a weapon.

On top of that, Streeter was on probation for failing to register as a predatory offender, showing that his trouble with the law wasn’t slowing down.

The Shocking Discovery

Streeter’s latest arrest happened on August 21, 2023, when authorities executed a search warrant at his home in Minneapolis. Police discovered a loaded gun in a bedroom, along with ammunition, two empty pistol magazines, a rifle grip, and 3.95 grams of fentanyl in the basement. But it didn’t stop there.

In January, detectives found an inert RPG-7 grenade launcher round in his home—an unexpected and highly dangerous discovery that only added to the gravity of Streeter’s crimes.

Years of High-Risk Searches Lead to More Arrests

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office had already conducted multiple high-risk searches of Streeter’s residence over the past two years.

These searches, part of an ongoing effort to crack down on illegal firearms and drugs, resulted in multiple arrests, with Streeter found in possession of both weapons and narcotics. Now, after his fifth conviction, Streeter faces a five-year sentence as the consequences of his actions finally catch up with him.
