The Need for Speed
Deke Sibley, a senior at Monticello High School, was reportedly fleeing from Sherburne County Sheriff’s deputies who were trying to pull him over for an alleged traffic violation.
The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. on Highway 10, where the teen’s Suzuki GSX1300 Sport motorcycle — a model known among enthusiasts for its exceptional speed capabilities — collided with an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado.
A Life Cut Short
The Minnesota State Patrol confirmed that Sibley was pronounced dead at the scene.
As with all ongoing investigations involving police pursuits, the exact circumstances leading to the fatal crash remain under review.
Collateral Impact
The pickup truck’s driver, a 75-year-old Minneapolis resident, sustained minor injuries in the collision. The elderly man’s identity has not been released by authorities.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Monticello High School community, where Sibley was just months away from graduation.
