MORRIS COUNTY, NJ – A new explanation from the White House regarding the mysterious drones swarming New Jersey skies for the last several months has only fueled more questions. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, in her first press briefing, read a statement from former President Donald Trump, suggesting the flying devices were harmless and part of various “research” activities. But skeptics aren’t convinced.
Leavitt read aloud Trump’s message: “After research and study, the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons,” she said.
“Many of these drones were also hobbyists, recreational and private individuals that enjoy flying drones. In time, it got worse due to curiosity. This was not the enemy.”
Despite this statement, the details about what type of research was being done, and why some drones were seen near military bases, remain unanswered.
Politicians Question Official Drone Explanation
Many political figures are not buying the official explanation. Former House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Mike McCaul (R-Texas) raised concerns last month, arguing that the drones may be linked to foreign adversaries.
“My judgment based on my experience is that those that are over our military sites are adversarial and most likely are coming from the People’s Republic of China,” McCaul said at the time.
He also expressed frustration over the lack of clarity from government officials. “We’re not getting answers and I think it’s because our government does not know who is behind them and that is very disturbing to me,” McCaul added.
Drone Sightings Spark Fear Across New Jersey and Beyond
The drones were not limited to New Jersey. Sightings were reported in New York City and other regions, creating panic among some residents. However, federal agencies insisted that there was no threat.
The FBI, FAA, Pentagon, and Department of Homeland Security issued a joint statement: “We assess that the sightings to date include a combination of lawful commercial drones, hobbyist drones, and law enforcement drones, as well as manned fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and stars mistakenly reported as drones.”
Despite this effort to calm fears, Trump accused President Joe Biden’s administration of hiding the truth.
Trump Accuses Biden of Drone Coverup
In a fiery statement before taking office, Trump suggested that the government already had enough information to identify the drones and their operators.
“Our military knows where they took off from — if it’s a garage, they can go right into that garage,” he claimed.
“They know where it came from and where it went, and for some reason they don’t want to comment.”
Trump dismissed the idea that the drones were a serious threat. “I can’t imagine it’s the enemy, because if it was the enemy, they’d blast it,” he said.

There’s definitely more to the story regarding the drones it would be nice to have a full explanation. Also there doesn’t seem to be sightings reported currently. But I’m sure there’s going to be a follow-up to this it’s not over.
