OMAHA, NE – A clumsy getaway attempt in Nebraska’s snowy weather led to the arrest of one LEGO thief outside an Omaha Target, while her accomplice sped off. Authorities say the incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon, leaving deputies with one suspect in custody and a mystery still unraveling.

Chaos at the Target Security Door

Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office raced to the Target at North 132nd Street and West Maple Road after a call about a robbery in progress.

When they arrived, two women were spotted shoving shopping carts brimming with LEGO merchandise through a security exit, aiming for a vehicle waiting nearby. The sight of law enforcement sent the pair bolting—but not everyone made it far.

Snowy Misstep Leads to Arrest

One of the fleeing suspects, Stephanie M. Brown, lost her footing in the snow and tumbled, giving deputies the chance to nab her.

The second woman slipped away, vanishing with the getaway car.

Brown now faces charges of theft, obstructing an officer, and possession of a controlled substance, on top of an existing bench warrant she was already dodging.

A Pattern of Plastic Pilfering

The sheriff’s office revealed Brown’s group may not be new to this game.

Two similar thefts targeting LEGO sets hit other Omaha-area Target stores just a day earlier, on Friday.

Investigators suspect the same crew is behind the string of heists, striking fast and leaving empty shelves in their wake.

Call for Clues

Authorities are now piecing together leads and urging the public to step up with information.

The sheriff’s office hopes tips—anonymous or otherwise—will help them track down the rest of this toy-stealing squad. For now, one thief is off the streets, but the hunt continues.
