Bissonnette, known for his on-air commentary and social media presence, shared his experience in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), revealing the extent of the violent confrontation.

Bissonnette Steps In to Defend Staff at Houston’s Restaurant

The incident took place at Houston’s restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona, where Bissonnette was dining. According to the former NHL player, the altercation began when a group of six men, appearing intoxicated, were asked to leave the restaurant by the staff. Bissonnette noticed the tension when “a bit of a ruckus [was] going on in the bar.”

He recounted that when one of the men allegedly “put his hands on” the manager, Bissonnette felt compelled to intervene. “I said, ‘Sir, if you continue to harass and assault the staff, we’re gonna have problems,” Bissonnette explained in his video. He then grabbed the man in an attempt to diffuse the situation, but things escalated quickly.

A Violent Confrontation Leads to Hospitalization

Bissonnette’s intervention triggered a violent confrontation, with the situation quickly spiraling out of control. He described fighting a total of seven men between the restaurant and the parking lot. “I got taken down a couple of times,” Bissonnette said, recounting how he was hit in the head during the altercation. Despite the blows, he assured his followers that he never lost consciousness.

In the aftermath, Bissonnette managed to escape the scene and fled to a nearby CVS drugstore, where he sought safety. He was later taken to the hospital for his injuries. Cuts were visible on his face, which he showed in his video, but he reassured fans that he was “fine.”

Police Arrest Six in Connection with the Assault

Authorities responded quickly to the incident, and Scottsdale police arrested six men in connection with the assault on Bissonnette. According to Scottsdale Police Sgt. Allison Sempsis, there was “an altercation inside the restaurant with six adult men and the management.”

She added that Bissonnette “tried to help management calm the men and get them to leave,” but the situation escalated further. “The men assaulted Paul Bissonnette both inside and outside of the restaurant,” she confirmed.
