The victim, now identified as 32-year-old Priyanka Sewhani of Oyster Bay, was pronounced dead at the scene after apparently exiting the moving vehicle and being struck by another car.

According to police reports, Sewhani was riding in the backseat of a 2019 Volkswagen Passat, an Uber vehicle, traveling eastbound on the LIE.
Near the Kissena Boulevard exit close to Flushing, she seemingly made the decision to leave the moving car for reasons that remain unclear. After exiting the vehicle, Sewhani was tragically hit by another car in the left lane, which did not stop at the scene.
Unanswered Questions Surround Victim’s Actions
The Uber driver, who remained at the location and cooperated with authorities, was not reported to be injured. However, the driver of the vehicle that struck Sewhani did not stay, leaving investigators with more questions than answers about the circumstances leading up to this heartbreaking event.
