MIDDLETOWN, OH — In a disturbing case that rocked this Butler County community, a 46-year-old Ohio man will spend at least the next four decades behind bars for orchestrating the cold-blooded murder of a woman he claimed was like a sister to him.
The Fatal Night
Brandon Davis received a life sentence for masterminding the execution of 35-year-old Asiah Slone, who had previously dated Davis’s father.
The relationship between Slone and Davis’s father had ended on poor terms, setting the stage for what would become a gruesome crime.
A Failed First Attempt
On June 7, 2024, while Slone lay sleeping in her bed, Davis shot her in the head. When she survived the initial attack, prosecutors say Davis enlisted the help of 59-year-old Perry Hart.
According to courtroom testimony, Davis instructed Hart to “take her downstairs and shut her up.” Hart complied, dragging the wounded woman to her basement where he fired the fatal shot.
The Cover-Up Unravels
For nearly a month, Slone’s whereabouts remained unknown after her brother reported her missing.
The grim truth came to light on July 1, 2024, when her best friend Casey Kilgore made a horrifying find – Slone’s remains stuffed inside a garbage can in Middletown.
Forced Accomplice or Willing Participant?
During the investigation, Hart claimed Davis had threatened him at gunpoint, asking, “Are you with me or are you against me?”
Hart struck a deal with prosecutors, pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter and kidnapping in exchange for testifying against Davis. DNA evidence on the murder weapon linked Hart to the crime scene.
Swift Justice
After less than five hours of deliberation, a jury found Davis guilty on multiple charges including aggravated murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and illegal firearms possession.
Despite maintaining his innocence and claiming Slone “truly was my sister,” Davis received a life sentence with possibility of parole after 44½ years, plus additional time for being a repeat violent offender and weapons charges.
Hart awaits his sentencing hearing, scheduled for March 31.
