CHASKA, MN – Taking a road test can be nerve-wracking, but one driver in Chaska, Minnesota likely didn’t expect things to go quite this badly. On Wednesday, a trainee found themselves not just failing their driving exam but crashing into two parked cars and the Carver County DMV building—talk about a rough start to a new chapter behind the wheel!
A Parking Nightmare
The incident took place outside the Carver County DMV at 418 Pine St. N, where the driver was attempting to park during their road test.
But things went terribly wrong when they accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. In the blink of an eye, they struck two vehicles before crashing directly into the DMV building.
No Injuries, but a Test Retake is in Order
While it may have seemed like a scene from a disaster movie, the good news is that no one was injured. Still, the road test ended in the worst way possible for the driver.
“Fortunately, no one was injured. Unfortunately, they will have to retake their test another time,” the Chaska Police Department said, giving the driver a second chance—just not on the same day.
A Cautionary Tale for All Drivers
The Chaska Police Department didn’t just let this incident go without a lesson. In a statement, they took the opportunity to remind all drivers about the responsibility that comes with operating a vehicle.
“We’re here to remind you that these unexpected turn of events highlight the importance of treating the privilege to drive with care. Vehicles are powerful machines that come with significant responsibility, and we ask that everyone gives driving the diligence it deserves,” the department said.
I guess a momentary mix-up can lead to unexpected consequences, so next time you’re in the driver’s seat, remember: gas goes forward, brake stops you. Simple, right?
