BROKEN ARROW, OK – It’s not every day that a couple can say their wedding was officiated by Santa Claus. But for 14 lucky pairs in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, that’s exactly what happened this Christmas season. The second annual “Wedding Wednesday” event gave couples a unique chance to tie the knot with the jolly old elf himself presiding over their ceremonies. And who could resist the festive charm of saying “I do” in the heart of a winter wonderland?

Wedding Wednesday Brings the Holiday Magic

Broken Arrow knows how to celebrate the season, and this year’s “Wedding Wednesday” on December 18 was no exception. Part of the town’s extensive list of holiday events, this special wedding event brought couples together with a holiday twist. The ceremony wasn’t just any ordinary wedding—it featured Santa Claus, partnering with the Tulsa County Satellite Office to make the day even more memorable.

“The city’s tourism office invited couples to experience a wedding that was truly magical,” they wrote. “Santa himself will be officiating weddings, making your special day even more magical.”

A Festive (and Free) Ceremony

The best part? These winter wonderland weddings didn’t cost the couples a penny. Santa was happy to perform the ceremonies free of charge, though tips were appreciated (and let’s be honest, he probably could use a little extra cash for the reindeer’s holiday bonus). After their vows, each couple enjoyed a fairy-tale exit in a horse-drawn carriage, making for a truly magical start to married life.

While the ceremonies were free, organizers encouraged donations, and it seems that Santa was working for tips. Talk about a merry way to start a new chapter!

So Much Demand, More Weddings Next Year?

With 14 couples quickly filling the slots, this year’s “Wedding Wednesday” was a smashing success. The overwhelming response has already sparked ideas for next year.

“This year, we filled up very quickly on our options, so maybe next year, we’ll get to have more slots available too,” said Erin Hofener, the Marketing and Communications Coordinator for Broken Arrow’s Tourism and Economic Office.

Looks like couples will be lining up to say “I do” in front of Santa again in 2025. And with the magic of the holiday season, who could blame them?

With couples getting married by Santa and riding off into the snowy sunset, Broken Arrow’s “Wedding Wednesday” was a hit—and it’s safe to say that next year’s event may just be even bigger and better. Merry Christmas, and congratulations to all the newlyweds!
