VENETA, OR – A terrifying crash in the dark, early hours of Wednesday left an Oregon driver “severely injured” and stranded at the bottom of a steep embankment. Rescuers worked tirelessly to navigate dense vegetation and challenging terrain to bring the motorist to safety, according to officials.

Rescue Operation on Wolf Creek Road

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office reported that its Search and Rescue unit responded to the scene near the top of Wolf Creek Road, just south of Veneta. The vehicle had rolled down the embankment, coming to rest in a remote and overgrown area.

Photos released by the sheriff’s office revealed the vehicle surrounded by thick vegetation, making the recovery effort both physically and logistically challenging.

Rescue teams had to deploy specialized tools and techniques to reach the injured driver.
