MEMPHIS, TN — Five young men from Tennessee decided to transform a busy downtown Memphis intersection into their personal dance floor Monday night, leading to their arrests after an unconventional traffic disruption that left local authorities shaking their heads.
The Late-Night Dance Session
The incident unfolded at the intersection of South Second Street and Union Avenue, where officers noticed a 2016 Chevy Malibu lingering at a green light.
What happened next was anything but typical: four individuals reportedly began twerking around the stationary vehicle while a fifth participant took his performance to new heights — literally — by dancing on the car’s hood.
The Twerk Team
The five individuals, most of whom were teenagers, were identified as:
- Mandre’Co Mays, 18
- MeKell Sanders, 18
- Desmond Subbery, 18
- Jordan Smith, 19
- Rashaun Bryant, 22
Legal Consequences
All five men face charges of obstructing a highway or passageway. Law enforcement made the decision to transport the group to jail to prevent any potential encore performances.
While four of the defendants were released on their own recognizance, Smith received a $2,100 bond due to an existing warrant for vandalism.
As with all criminal cases, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The incident has since become a talking point among local residents, with some viewing it as a harmless prank while others express concern about traffic safety in the downtown area. Either way, cops were not amused by these booty-shaking boys!
