CLARKSVILLE, TN – A 49-year-old woman faces charges after fatally shooting her husband in a Clarksville, Tennessee apartment complex in the St. Bethlehem area earlier this month. The incident has been referred to a grand jury for further review.
Emergency Call Leads to Grim Scene
On February 4, at around 7:45 p.m., Clarksville Police responded to an ambulance call near Dunlop Lane and Ted Crozier Boulevard. The caller, Wilonda Young, reported that her 55-year-old husband, Vincent Young, was unresponsive.
When officers arrived, they found Wilonda Young attempting CPR on her husband in the living room of their apartment.
Upon taking over CPR efforts, police noticed a puncture-like injury on Vincent Young’s abdomen. He was quickly transported to Tennova Healthcare Clarksville, where medical staff pronounced him dead.
Argument Turns Deadly
According to Wilonda Young’s account to detectives, the incident stemmed from a heated argument with her husband that escalated into a physical altercation.
She told authorities she went to their bedroom and retrieved a 9mm handgun, which she then placed in her pocket. Returning to the living room, the confrontation continued, and the firearm discharged, striking Vincent Young.
Case Moves Forward
Following the investigation, the case has been handed over to the grand jury. Wilonda Young was arrested in connection with her husband’s death, though specific charges were not detailed in the initial report.
The Clarksville Police Department continues to handle the matter as it progresses through the legal system.
