DEL RIO, TX — In a dramatic Monday afternoon bust, sharp-eyed border agents here in Del Rio, Texas stopped a weapons stockpile from slipping into Mexico, nabbing enough firepower to equip a small fighting force.

The Arsenal Uncovered

Alert Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at Del Rio Port of Entry halted a 2006 Ford F-350 van during routine outbound screening. Their instincts proved spot-on when a thorough search revealed a shocking weapons cache concealed within the vehicle.

By the Numbers

The seized arsenal included 16 weapons, with three military-style AR rifles chambered in 5.56mm leading the pack. Officers also secured 26 magazines and a whopping 182 rounds of ammunition, including devastating .50-caliber rounds capable of taking down vehicles.

High-Tech Hunt

CBP officers employed their full arsenal of detection tools, bringing in specially trained K-9 units and advanced scanning equipment to root out the hidden weapons. The methodical search paid off as they systematically exposed the concealed contraband.

Law Enforcement Teamwork

The Texas Department of Public Safety has taken charge of the criminal investigation, working hand-in-hand with federal authorities. The vehicle and all seized weapons have been transferred to state custody as the investigation unfolds.

Border Security Impact

The Del Rio Port of Entry continues its mission as a crucial checkpoint in stemming the flow of illegal weapons. This seizure represents another success in the ongoing effort to protect communities on both sides of the border.

Port Director Liliana Flores emphasized the CBP’s dedication to border security and praised the coordination between state and federal law enforcement partners in maintaining safe border communities.
