Authorities say the suspect, previously convicted of DWI, drove the wrong way, leading to the fatal encounter.
Deadly Collision on Highway 75
The Minnesota State Patrol reports that the incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Highway 75 near Moorhead.
The suspect, behind the wheel of a Toyota Tundra, barreled down the wrong side of the road. At the same moment, 43-year-old Jennifer Elizabeth Watson of Ennis, Texas, steered her Jeep Compass in the opposite direction.
The two vehicles met in a catastrophic head-on crash.
Watson perished at the scene, leaving authorities to piece together the events. The suspect, a Moorhead local, survived the impact and now faces serious charges.
Suspect in Custody with Prior Record
Clay County jail records confirm the 28-year-old remains detained as of Monday morning. Arrested Saturday night, he faces allegations of alcohol-related criminal vehicular homicide.
