MINNEAPOLIS, MN – A hit-and-run suspect in Bloomington, Minnesota was arrested on Thanksgiving after a wild pursuit that saw the driver trying to run other vehicles off the road. The chaotic series of events began just before 2 p.m., when police were alerted to a crash involving two parked cars on Penn Avenue South. What followed was a high-speed chase that spanned several miles and ended with the driver in custody.

The Incident Begins

The incident started on the 9700 block of Penn Avenue South in Bloomington. Police received reports around 1:55 p.m. that a vehicle had collided with two parked cars and then fled the scene. Officers immediately responded, locating the suspect’s vehicle not long after the crash. A pursuit quickly began, but it was initially cut short near 98th Street and Interstate 35W. However, the suspect was not finished yet.

The Pursuit Unfolds

Just moments after the pursuit was called off, Bloomington dispatch received new information. The suspect’s vehicle was spotted exiting Interstate 494 onto Penn Avenue South, with reports indicating that the driver was now attempting to run other vehicles off the road. Officers tried once again to stop the vehicle, but the suspect sped off, continuing to flee from police.

Traffic cameras soon showed the suspect’s vehicle traveling south on I-35W, heading into Lakeville. After reaching the area, the vehicle turned around and began heading back north towards Bloomington. At this point, officers were able to deploy stop sticks and successfully executed a PIT maneuver at 106th Street, bringing the pursuit to an end.

The Arrest and Aftermath

After the vehicle was stopped, the suspect refused to exit the car, prompting officers to deploy chemical agents to get him out. The driver, a 32-year-old man from Andover, was finally taken into custody. Authorities have not released further details about the suspect’s motivations, but the entire pursuit ended without any serious injuries.

The suspect now faces charges related to the hit-and-run incident, as well as charges stemming from the pursuit and his dangerous driving behavior.
