VERO BEACH, FL – Three people were pulled from dangerous waters after their boat flipped near Florida’s Vero Beach, leaving them stranded and desperately clinging to the overturned vessel. The dramatic wrescue unfolded Friday afternoon and was captured in a gripping video shared by officials.
Small Boat Capsizes, Traps Boaters in Peril
The chaos began offshore near the 8400 block of Highway A1A. A small boat capsized without warning, plunging its occupants into the ocean.
Struggling against the waves, the three individuals held on to the overturned boat, waiting for help as time ticked away.
The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office quickly launched its helicopter, ‘Hawk,’ to monitor the crisis.
From above, the helicopter crew provided crucial support, keeping eyes on the stranded boaters while help sped their way.
Video Captures Tense Rescue Operation
As the stranded trio clung to the capsized boat, a fast rescue boat from Indian River County Fire Rescue barreled through the waves toward them. Rescuers wasted no time, tossing a flotation device attached to a rope and pulling the three individuals onboard one by one.
“Big shoutout to Indian River County Fire Rescue for their incredible ocean rescue, saving three lives,” the sheriff’s office stated alongside the video.
“Thanks to the swift response of the Fire Rescue Marine unit, all three individuals were safely brought back to shore.”
Video footage posted on Tuesday shows the intensity of the rescue.
