LANSING, MI – A somber event early Tuesday morning at the Michigan State Police Post in Lansing, Michigan prompted a brief closure of the station as authorities responded to a distressing situation. A man was found dead in the parking lot, just hours after reaching out for help.

Around 6:30 a.m. on November 26, 2024, a 63-year-old Lansing man called the Michigan State Police Operations center, reporting that he was in the parking lot of the Lansing Post, located at 7119 North Canal Road, and intended to harm himself.

In response, troopers were dispatched to the scene to check on the man’s welfare.

Tragic Discovery

Upon arriving, police discovered the man dead next to his vehicle. The Michigan State Police First District later confirmed the discovery but did not release the man’s identity. The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.

Following the discovery, the Lansing Post was temporarily closed as authorities conducted their investigation. By shortly before 10:00 a.m., MSP announced that the investigation had concluded, and the post was reopened to the public.
