SPRINGDALE, UT – A 37-year-old hiker was found dead early Sunday morning at Utah’s Zion National Park, prompting an active investigation by authorities. The chilling discovery has raised questions about what went wrong on one of the park’s popular but treacherous trails.
Emergency Response Rushes to the Scene
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a 7 a.m. call about a possible fall on the Canyon Overlook Trail, a scenic but risky path known for its steep drop-offs.
First responders from Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue were the first to reach the scene, arriving just in time to confirm the hiker was dead at approximately 7:40 a.m.
Park rangers and members of Zion Technical Search and Rescue soon arrived to assist with the recovery of the body. Officials temporarily shut down the trail to ensure a safe and smooth recovery operation.
Identity of the Victim and Autopsy Plans
The hiker, identified only as a 37-year-old man, was transported to the Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation.
