SEATTLE, WA – A terrifying moment unfolded in Renton, Washington, when a coyote tried to drag a 5-year-old boy into the woods, only to be stopped by his quick-thinking mother. The shocking encounter took place on Tuesday evening around 6 p.m. in the Maplewood Heights neighborhood of Renton, an inner-ring suburb of Seattle located about 11 miles southeast of the city’s downtown.

According to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, the coyote bit the young boy in the upper body, knocking him to the ground, before attempting to pull him toward a nearby greenbelt area.

The Mother’s Quick Action

The child’s mother immediately sprang into action, rushing at the coyote. “The coyote released the boy after the mother rushed at it,” said the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Her swift intervention saved her son from further harm.

Although the child sustained non-life-threatening injuries, he was released from the hospital later that evening after receiving treatment.

Wildlife Response and Coyote’s Escape

Wildlife officers responded to the scene and attempted to lethally remove the coyote. However, the animal managed to flee into a nearby forest before the officers could carry out their plan. The coyote’s whereabouts remained unknown after its escape.
