Firefighters arrived shortly before 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday to free the man from the machine, which is designed to compress materials like cardboard and plastic into compact bales.

Thirty-Minute Rescue Effort

The worker’s arm was caught in the gears of the baler, requiring rescuers to employ an array of tools to carefully extricate him. A photo released by the fire department captured the intensity of the operation, showing firefighters working diligently to release the man. The rescue effort lasted approximately 30 minutes, with EMS personnel providing medical care on-site throughout the process to stabilize the injured worker.

Once freed, the man was rushed to Providence Regional Medical Center for treatment. He sustained multiple injuries to his lower arm and was listed in serious condition following the incident.
