KANSAS CITY, MO – A dramatic rescue unfolded in Kansas City, Missouri, when a window washer found himself stranded eight stories above the ground. On Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, emergency responders worked quickly to bring the worker to safety.
How the Window Washer Got Stuck
The incident took place at 903 E. 104th Street in South Kansas City around 8:40 a.m. According to officials, the window washer became stuck while working outside a building, dangling from a security line. The worker was trapped in the air, unable to reach safety, prompting a swift response from local authorities.
Firefighters Overcome Height Challenge to Save Worker
The Kansas City Fire Department arrived promptly at the scene, ready to assist the trapped worker. Firefighters initially attempted to use a ladder truck with an aerial platform to reach the worker. However, the ladder’s height was insufficient to reach the stranded person, who was about eight stories above the ground.
After this initial attempt failed, the team made their way to the roof of the building. There, a firefighter went over the edge and attached a second line to the worker. The window washer was then safely lowered to the ground, completing the successful rescue.
No Injuries Reported
Fortunately, there were no injuries during the rescue operation. The window washer was brought to safety and was unharmed. Local authorities have praised the quick thinking and professionalism of the Kansas City Fire Department for resolving the situation.
