SAN ANTONIO, TX – A disturbing incident at a San Antonio, Texas Whataburger last Thursday began with concern for a customer’s wellbeing and ended with criminal charges after police say a pregnant woman in her third trimester attempted to flush a fetus down the restaurant’s toilet.
Four-Hour Restaurant Visit Raises Alarm
Mallori Patrice Strait, 33, entered the Whataburger restaurant around noon, initially sitting quietly in the lobby for approximately two hours. Around 2 p.m., she moved to the bathroom, where she remained for an additional two hours.
Restaurant staff grew increasingly concerned after hearing distressing sounds from the restroom stall, prompting the manager to check on her multiple times and offer water.
Police Response and Discovery
When Strait refused to leave the premises, the restaurant manager contacted law enforcement out of concern for her safety.
Responding deputies from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office encountered an uncooperative Strait before making a tragic discovery in the bathroom – a female fetus in the toilet. Both Strait and the infant were immediately transported to a local hospital, where medical personnel pronounced the newborn deceased.
Medical Investigation and Legal Consequences
Medical officials determined Strait was between 28 and 30 weeks pregnant at the time of the incident. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s office is currently conducting an investigation to establish the precise cause of death. Following the incident, authorities arrested Strait and charged her with abuse of a corpse.
In times of profound loss and tragedy, communities often struggle to make sense of events that shake our collective conscience. Matthew 19:14 states, “Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'” Today, the San Antonio community mourns the loss of its smallest member.
