MUNCIE, IN — An Indiana mother’s late-night bar visit turned into every parent’s nightmare when police found her two babies home alone, with the youngest – just nine days old – showing signs of severe distress.

A Mother’s Night Out Goes Wrong

Sandra Henriquez, 32, allegedly downed a six-pack of 16-ounce Budweisers at home before heading to Big Shots Pub around midnight, leaving her newborn and one-year-old children completely unsupervised.

The Shocking Discovery

Neighbors’ reports of crying babies led police to force entry into Henriquez’s home, where they encountered a heartbreaking scene.

Both children were found wearing heavily soiled diapers, with the nine-day-old infant displaying blue extremities and lips – clear signs of malnutrition. While the older child appeared healthy, the newborn required immediate hospitalization and feeding tube intervention.

A Trail of Deception

The incident began unraveling when Henriquez allegedly crashed her vehicle into a pole in the early morning hours.

When questioned by officers about possible dependents after spotting a car seat, she initially claimed she had none. It wasn’t until she reached the county jail that she admitted to having children but refused to provide her address.

Inside the Abandoned Home

Beyond the endangered children, authorities found scattered empty beer cans throughout the residence and a dog trapped in a cage without food or water, painting a disturbing picture of neglect.

Legal Consequences

Henriquez faces multiple preliminary charges, including neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, abandonment, and obstruction of justice.
