Back in 2008, a powerful EF5 tornado with winds of 205 mph wreaked havoc, claiming nine lives and injuring many. Among the chaos, Hope Tomkins’ family home was destroyed, along with a very special item: her grandparents’ wedding photo.

Fast forward to this week and a surprising discovery on the city’s Facebook page. A post appeared asking if anyone recognized a couple in a wedding photo found among tornado debris still unclaimed after all these years. It was the lost photo of Tomkins’ grandparents. Within minutes of the post, the family reclaimed their cherished memory.

Marcia Mull, Tomkins’ mother, shared how meaningful this recovery is to them. It’s a connection to her parents and their life together, including her father’s heroic efforts in World War II.
