LOS ANGELES, CA – Jon Hamm wants to play the lead in a romantic comedy alongside his “The Morning Show” co-star Jennifer Aniston.
In an interview with IndieWire published Friday, the “Mad Men” star, 53, said he wants to make a romantic comedy with Aniston, 55, after their experience playing love interests on “The Morning Show.”
When casting the role for Aniston’s character Alex Levy’s love interest, Aniston herself suggested Hamm, and the pair have clear chemistry on screen, even if the fictional relationship didn’t work out.
“I have no idea what it would look like,” Hamm told the outlet of a romantic comedy with Aniston.
“I think it would just have to be funny and fun and it would let us do what we both do very well, which is be charming and funny and compelling. I certainly wouldn’t say no to that.”
He also pointed out that romantic comedies can still do well at the box office, as proven by Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell’s movie “Anyone But You,” which came out last year.
“I mean, God bless Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney for proving that it can work again,” he said.
“I’m glad to see that some of the [studios], streamers, and alternate folks are taking swings at the romantic comedy genre again because I feel like it is something that was overlooked for some time.”
He also credited Aniston for her work with Adam Sandler on Netflix’s “Murder Mystery” and “Murder Mystery 2.”
“She’s kind of established the Adam Sandler films that she’s done, which I think have been great — those murder mysteries, those are always really fun,” Hamm said.
