LAREDO, TX – The crowded bus rumbled to a halt under the scorching Texas sun, passengers wiping sweat from their brows as U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers approached. Among the weary travelers, one man sat silently, trying to blend in. But the officers were on high alert.

When they pulled him aside for further questioning, his attempts to remain unnoticed unraveled. Jose Angel Quinones, 19, was soon handcuffed, his plans to flee to Mexico shattered.

Quinones, a U.S. citizen, was wanted for homicide in Texas and was apprehended on Saturday, September 7, at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge in Laredo. Using biometric verification, CBP officers identified him as a fugitive wanted by the Collin County Sheriff’s Office in McKinney, Texas, on homicide charges.

Capture at the Border

The arrest unfolded when CBP officers flagged Quinones during a routine bus inspection. As soon as his identity was confirmed, he was taken into custody without incident. He was later transferred to the Webb County Jail, where he is awaiting criminal proceedings.

CBP officials emphasized the importance of this arrest. “Public safety is a key concern,” said Albert Flores, Port Director of the Laredo Port of Entry.

“Identifying the subject and collaborating with law enforcement in Collin County ensured the arrest of this dangerous individual, who will face charges for this violent alleged crime.”

Investigation Ongoing

While Quinones awaits legal action, the investigation into the homicide charge is still ongoing. No additional details about the crime or the suspect’s motive have been released at this time.

CBP’s role in identifying and apprehending individuals wanted for serious crimes underscores their ongoing commitment to border security and public safety.
