You might think Kansas City is just one place, but hold on a sec! There are actually two separate cities with the same name – Kansas City, Missouri (KC, MO) and Kansas City, Kansas (KC, KS). They’re right next to each other, but they’re in different states and have their own governments and services. It’s kinda like having a twin, but you live in different houses and have different jobs. That’s a lot like Minneapolis and St. Paul, which are separated by the Mississippi River and have the nickname “The Twin Cities”.

Kansas City, Missouri is in the western part of Missouri, while Kansas City, Kansas is in the northeastern part of Kansas. They’re split by the state line that separates the two states.
