LOUISVILLE, KY – An argument over cold fries escalated into a chaotic and dangerous shootout at a Wendy’s in Louisville, Kentucky. What began as a dispute at the drive-thru turned violent when a customer pulled a gun and fired, only to be met with return fire from a restaurant employee. The dramatic confrontation, which sent one worker to the hospital, unfolded on January 6 and left police unraveling a shocking series of events.

Heated Drive-Thru Argument Explodes Into Violence

According to Louisville Metro Police, 25-year-old Monjah D. James-Wooten and two others argued with a Wendy’s employee about the temperature of their fries late that evening. The confrontation started in the drive-thru at around 10:41 p.m. but quickly escalated when the group left their vehicle and entered the restaurant.

Inside, tensions boiled over. James-Wooten allegedly drew a firearm and fired a shot. In response, the employee returned fire, resulting in an intense exchange of bullets. Amid the chaos, James-Wooten reportedly fired multiple rounds, one of which struck the employee in the buttocks, according to a criminal complaint.

Suspects Flee, Leaving a Trail for Police

The injured worker was taken to the hospital for treatment while the suspects fled the scene. Surveillance cameras captured the altercation, giving investigators key evidence to identify those involved.

In a twist, the day after the incident, one of the suspect’s accomplices contacted authorities to report that she had been shot. During an interview, she admitted to being with James-Wooten at the Wendy’s during the shootout, police said.

Arrest and Court Proceedings

By Friday, James-Wooten surrendered to law enforcement. He is now facing assault charges and is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $50,000 bond.

This incident left both employees and customers shaken, as a seemingly trivial argument turned into a life-threatening event. Police continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the violent encounter.
