MOORHEAD, MN – An 18-year-old man has been charged with the murder of 14-year-old Jaelyn Walker in Moorhead, Minnesota. The charges state that he repeatedly stabbed the young girl before slashing her throat.

In the midst of this heartbreaking tragedy, we are reminded of the fragility of life and the importance of seeking comfort in our faith.

As we navigate the pain of this loss, let us remember the words of Psalm 46:1: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” May we turn to Him for peace and guidance during this difficult time.

Isaac Arndt, 18, from Fargo, faces charges in connection with Walker’s death. Her body was discovered in the Red River near Gooseberry Park in Moorhead on Tuesday morning, a day after she was reported missing.

According to the criminal complaint, Walker was stabbed 13 times. During an interview with police, Arndt admitted that she was “not alive” when he left the scene.

Arndt confessed to investigators that after stabbing Walker multiple times, he saw her suffering. He then cut her throat, gave her a hug, and stabbed her one final time in the back.

After the attack, Arndt dragged Walker’s body to the river and left her there before fleeing.

Arndt also disclosed that he had been in a romantic relationship with Walker for several months, but it had recently ended. The two had agreed to meet on Monday evening, during which Walker asked about Arndt’s new girlfriend.

When he refused to reveal her identity, Arndt claims that Walker began to hit and kick him. In response, he pulled out a knife, injuring his own hand in the process, and began to slash at her.

Arndt initially reported the incident himself, arriving at the Clay County Law Enforcement Center around 11 p.m. He claimed his hand injuries were the result of an attack by an unknown male who had been following them while they were riding an electric scooter.

Walker’s mother filed a missing person report with the Moorhead Police Department at 12:35 a.m. on Tuesday. She told officers that she had tracked her daughter’s location through Snapchat to a spot near a bike trail at Elm Street and 6th Avenue South.

Police searched the area and eventually found Walker’s body in the Red River, along with a knife at the scene.

Arndt was located by officers at a hospital in Fargo. Initially, he stuck to his story about an unknown male attacking him but later provided multiple versions of events. Eventually, he admitted to his past relationship with Walker.

After the stabbing, Arndt fled the scene on an electric scooter and returned to his apartment in Fargo, where he cleaned his bloodied clothing. Officers later found blood-stained socks and a towel hidden in a kitchen cupboard in his apartment.

Security footage captured Arndt leaving the area where Walker’s body was discovered and riding away on an electric scooter, discarding items along the route. Among the discarded items was Walker’s phone, which contained messages between her and Arndt, including plans to meet at Gooseberry Park around 7:30 p.m.

As we reflect on this devastating event, we hold on to the promise of God’s justice and mercy.

Romans 12:19 reminds us, “Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord.” Let us continue to pray for healing and justice, trusting in God’s ultimate plan.
