Today we’re diving deep into the ghostly history of our hometown, Winona 🏠. We had an amazing conversation with local paranormal historian and ghost expert Lacey Korb, who has been guiding folks around Winona and knows all its haunted hotspots 🌃.

The Lady of the Night

First up is the mysterious “Lady of the Night.” 👸

Often seen around the No-Name Bar area 🍻, she walks the streets in a white nightgown with a sad aura 😢. People have described her as see-through, and when she locks eyes with you, it feels like she looks right through your soul 👀. The feeling of her walking through you? Just like static electricity ⚡.

Tragedy in Woodlawn Cemetery

Lacey also took us back to the 1930s with a heart-wrenching story from Woodlawn Cemetery. 💔⚰️

A young boy witnessed his older brother die in a car accident 🚗. Buried in a Potter’s Field due to their family’s financial struggles 💸, the young boy took it upon himself to create a gravestone for his brother. He walked all the way from the east end of town in the middle of the night 🌙, carrying concrete, and carved his brother’s initials on it ✍️.

That gravestone still stands today, barely readable but deeply moving 🕯️.

The Unsettling Halls of St. Mary’s University

Lacey didn’t leave out St. Mary’s University in her tour of Winona’s haunting tales. 🎓

She shared an eerie story about a group of priests 👨‍🎓 who lived tragic lives decades ago. It’s said that they roam the campus, particularly the old dormitories 🏢. Students have reported hearing footsteps 👣 in empty halls and feeling a cold breeze ❄️ when no windows were open. These otherworldly priests are thought to be protectors, keeping an eye on the university they once called home 🏠.
