The Shooter Calls 911

In a surprising twist, it was Toumala himself who dialed 911 to report the shooting. He told the dispatcher that he had shot someone but was no longer armed. When officers arrived at the scene, Toumala exited the home with his hands in the air. He believed the woman had been shot, but she had only fallen.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman had been living with Toumala’s father at the residence, and the suspect had recently moved in after leaving two treatment facilities.

Investigators are continuing to piece together the events that led to the shooting, but the victim told police she was terrified and thought she was going to die that day.

Toumala is currently facing multiple felony charges as the case proceeds in St. Louis County District Court.
