SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A man from New Jersey has been charged with arson and domestic violence after allegedly setting fire to his girlfriend’s house during an argument, according to local police.
Authorities said Leonard Jones IV, 50, became the subject of a 911 call early Tuesday morning after an argument at a residence on Old Beekman Road. The call came in at around 3 a.m., requesting that Jones be removed from the property. Shortly after the first call, another 911 alert was made, reporting that the house was on fire.
Firefighters Respond to Two-Alarm Blaze
When the first officer arrived, the home’s roof was already engulfed in flames. Police confirmed that three people were inside the house, along with Jones, but all managed to escape without injury.
Firefighters from South Brunswick’s three fire companies—Kendall Park, Monmouth Junction, and Kingston—rushed to the scene, aided by additional fire crews from neighboring towns. Emergency medical services (EMS) were also present to provide assistance as the fire escalated to a two-alarm blaze.

Jones is now facing charges of aggravated arson and domestic violence, with authorities continuing their investigation into the incident.
