In the quiet town of Lockridge, Iowa, October 3rd, 1975, turned out to be a date etched in local lore. As the sun set, farmer Herbert Peiffer tended to his turkeys. Suddenly, he witnessed something extraordinary.

A four-legged creature crossed in front of his tractor’s headlights. Herbert assumed it was the predator that had been attacking his birds. However, to his shock, the creature stood on its hind legs, revealing a bushy, dark-haired body, an ape-like face, and a height of nearly five feet. It ran off like a man, leaving Herbert bewildered and alarmed.

Strange Discoveries

The next morning, the Peiffer family inspected their turkey pens. They found 10-inch tracks around four freshly killed birds. Mrs. Peiffer noticed apples hanging on branches seven feet off the ground, each with bites taken out. These strange discoveries added to their growing concern.

Interestingly, an earlier sighting had occurred just months before. Wendell and Gloria Olson, another local couple, reported seeing a bushy-haired creature with a monkey-like face near a deserted farm. This sighting, however, didn’t gain as much attention as Herbert Peiffer’s encounter.
