SAN MIGUEL COUNTY, CO – A 53-year-old woman who went missing during a solo hike in Colorado was found safe after a four-day search, according to local authorities.

Gina Chase, from Victoria, Canada, embarked on a solo hike on Wednesday while participating in a spiritual retreat near Lone Cone, Colorado. She had set out around 11 a.m. but did not return as scheduled.

Chase was reported missing the following day when it became clear she had not come back to her group camp.

Search Efforts Lead to Successful Outcome

The San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Chase was located in the area where search efforts had been focused.

Her discovery on Saturday brought relief to her family and rescue teams. The authorities praised the persistence and dedication of the search crews.

Sheriff Bill Masters stressed the importance of carrying communication devices and maintaining adequate nutrition while hiking. He noted that hikers should be well-prepared and follow basic safety guidelines to avoid dangerous situations in the wilderness.
