HUDSON, WI – Madison Bergmann, a former teacher at River Crest Elementary School in Hudson, Wisconsin, has been hit with additional criminal charges related to allegations of sexual misconduct with an 11-year-old student. The new charges include nine felonies, expanding the legal troubles for the 24-year-old educator.

Details of the Allegations

Bergmann now faces one count of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, five charges of sexual misconduct by school staff, two charges of child enticement causing mental or bodily harm, and one count of exposing a child to harmful materials.

These charges are in addition to a previous accusation of first-degree sexual assault of a child.

Potential Sentencing

If convicted on all counts and sentenced consecutively, Bergmann could face up to 185 years in prison.

This marks a significant escalation in her legal battle.

Investigation Findings

The investigation into Bergmann’s alleged misconduct began when the victim’s mother overheard her son speaking with the teacher on the phone.

Concerned, the parents reviewed their child’s phone and discovered disturbing text messages between him and Bergmann.

The messages reportedly detailed multiple encounters in the classroom during lunch or after school, with Bergmann allegedly discussing physical interactions with the student.

Evidence Discovered

During a search of Bergmann’s classroom, police found a folder containing handwritten notes with the victim’s name, which reportedly included references to kissing and other inappropriate behavior.

Bergmann was scheduled to marry in July, but those plans were canceled amid the ongoing investigation.

The groom-to-be, Sam Hickman, has expressed profound distress over the situation. Bergmann has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
