Winona, Minnesota – Meet Mando, the adorable 13-month-old American Shorthair who’s stealing hearts and taking over the internet with his travel adventures. When his owner, Steven Squire, decided to fly from Salt Lake City to San Diego, he couldn’t bear the thought of leaving his furry best friend behind. So, he did what any devoted cat dad would do – he took Mando along for the ride!
Squire documented their journey on TikTok, sharing his top tips for flying with a feline. And boy, did people love it! The video has already racked up a whopping 11 million views since it was posted on June 6th. Who knew a cat could be such a travel influencer?

Before the big trip, Squire did his research and chose Delta Airlines for their pet-friendly policies. He even called ahead to make sure everything was set up for Mando’s comfort. The next step was finding the perfect carrier, and the Travel Cat backpack was the clear winner. With its soft shell and plenty of ventilation, it was like a cozy little den for Mando to snooze in during the flight.

At the airport, Mando got a chance to stretch his legs and relax before takeoff. Squire made sure to have all the essentials on hand, like food and water, stored in handy containers from Whiskware. And when it was time to board, he checked with his fellow passengers to make sure no one was allergic to cats. Luckily, everyone was thrilled to meet the adorable travel companion!
Once settled under the seat, Mando calmed right down and even took a little catnap. The flight attendant offered to move them to their own row, but Squire and Mando had already bonded with their new seatmates and decided to stay put.
Squire started the TikTok account after a neighbor’s video of him walking Mando went viral, but he never expected this level of fame. He’s been loving the chance to answer questions and share tips with other cat owners who want to travel with their furry friends.
As for Mando? Well, he’s been perching himself on the highest piece of furniture in the room, which is apparently cat-speak for “I’m the boss around here.” Looks like the fame might be going to his whiskers a bit!
