LAREDO, TX – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Texas recently apprehended a 21-year-old U.S. citizen wanted on charges of negligent vehicular manslaughter. The individual, identified as Jesus Alejandro Trevino, was stopped while attempting to cross the border on foot at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge in Laredo.

Manslaughter Suspect Apprehended at Gateway to the Americas Bridge

The arrest occurred on Saturday when Trevino, walking through the pedestrian lane at the Laredo Point of Entry, was referred for a secondary inspection by CBP officers. During this process, the officers utilized biometric technology and checked law enforcement databases, which revealed an active felony arrest warrant issued by the Laredo Police Department for negligent vehicular manslaughter.

The charges stem from a fatal accident that took place on June 19 near Cuatro Vientos Road and Aguanieve Drive in Laredo. The victim in the incident was identified as 35-year-old Giovanna Ramirez Colunga. Trevino was sought by law enforcement for his involvement in the accident, which led to her death.
