U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers stationed at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge in Laredo, Texas intercepted a hefty stash of cocaine concealed in a car driven by an American woman, with a Mexican man riding along. The seizure, announced on February 25, 2025, has sent ripples through the border town.
Vehicle Stop Turns Explosive
The drama unfolded when a 43-year-old U.S. citizen rolled up in a 2001 Ford Explorer, her 54-year-old Mexican companion in tow.
Officers flagged the vehicle for a closer look, deploying high-tech scanning gear and drug-sniffing dogs.
A thorough search uncovered 25 tightly packed bundles—65 pounds of alleged cocaine, valued at a jaw-dropping $872,777 on the street.
Contraband and Arrests
The narcotics, along with the SUV, were swiftly confiscated by CBP. Homeland Security Investigations special agents swooped in, cuffing the deceptive driver and her sneaky sidekick.
A criminal probe is now underway to unravel how this daring duo planned to slip past the border with their illicit load.
CBP Stands Firm
Port Director Albert Flores praised the bust as a win for vigilance.
“Our frontline CBP officers continue to maintain razor-sharp focus and that attention to detail combined with the effective utilization of technology resulted in a significant cocaine seizure,” he said.
The operation marks another notch in CBP’s belt as they work tirelessly to choke off drug trafficking routes and safeguard local communities.
