Bolingbrook, Illinois – When CosMc’s, the spinoff from McDonald’s, opened near Chicago, it was like fireworks in the fast-food world! This “small but mighty” drive-thru spot, known for its cosmic drinks and tasty bites, had people buzzing.
What is CosMc’s? 🤔
CosMc’s is a unique spinoff from McDonald’s, inspired by the extraterrestrial character CosMc from McDonald’s ads in the ’80s and ’90s. It’s a smaller, cosmic-themed restaurant specializing in drinks and snacks, offering a variety of cosmic beverages and outer-space, alien-themed snacks. 👽🍔🤤
Recent data shows that CosMc’s had DOUBLE the visitors of a regular McDonald’s in December 2023, even though it had only been open since December 7! Now that’s impressive! Plus, it had three times the visitors per square foot, and it’s not even as big as a typical McDonald’s.

But here’s the cosmic twist: CosMc’s could have had even more visitors if it had more space to handle the cosmic demand. They were so popular during their opening week that local police had to step in to help with the traffic!
CosMc’s might be smaller, about 2,500 square feet, compared to the usual 4,000 to 4,500 square feet of a regular McDonald’s. But that’s because they’re all about drinks and snacks, not full meals.
At the Bolingbrook store, it’s been super busy. There can be around 80 cars in line, and they even have to use a nearby parking lot to handle all the hungry visitors.
What’s on the Menu at CosMc’s? 🤤
Their menu is out of this world with “Signature Galactic Boosts,” iced teas, lemonades, frappes, and tons of coffee. Breakfast options like spicy queso sandwiches and McPops are on the menu too.
Right now, there’s only one CosMc’s in the U.S., in Bolingbrook, Illinois. But guess what? McDonald’s plans to open about 10 more in Texas by the end of 2024. Get ready, Texas! Yee haw!

At CosMc’s, you order from cool digital menu boards, pay cashlessly, and wait for your cosmic goodies. Unfortunately, online ordering isn’t available yet, so that’s why you might have to wait a bit in the drive-thru lanes. But don’t worry, they promise it’s “coming soon!”
McDonald’s tried the McCafe thing before, but CosMc’s might be their ticket to win over the younger crowd. It’s like a cosmic adventure for your taste buds!
