SHAMOKIN, PA – A tractor-trailer spilled a load of meat along a Pennsylvania road on Thursday, prompting detours for motorists, officials said.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said the Sunbury Street section of Route 61 was closed between Mt. Carmel Street and Sixth Street in Shamokin, Northumberland County, due to the meat spill.
Motorists were detoured using East Independence Street in Shamokin.
Shamokin is about 35 miles north of Hershey. Motorists were also advised of possible lane restrictions on Route 61 in nearby Coal Township, where some of the meat also spilled.
PennDOT did not say there was a crash, and did not specify how the tractor-trailer lost its load. Drivers were urged to use caution throughout the area of the spill.

I’m sorry but of course PennDot wouldn’t know how or why, the police would. They call PennDot out for assistance only if it’s on a state road. Just saying…
