The prize is drawing attention as one of the largest jackpots ever offered in the game’s history. With no ticket matching all six numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing, the jackpot continues to grow, attracting eager players hoping for a shot at the record-breaking prize.
Tuesday’s Drawing Results and Second-Tier Prizes
Tuesday night’s drawing failed to produce a jackpot winner, with the winning numbers being 56, 66, 67, 68, 69, and the Mega Ball 18. However, there were plenty of winners at lower prize levels. A total of 1,602,721 tickets won prizes ranging from smaller amounts to the $1 million second-tier prize.
Five tickets matched all five white balls, earning the $1 million prize. Notably, one of those tickets, sold in North Carolina, is worth $4 million because the ticket included the $1 Megaplier option, which was set to 4X for Tuesday’s drawing. Two second-tier tickets were sold in California, with one each in Louisiana and Oklahoma.
Additionally, 55 tickets matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball, securing the third-tier prize of $10,000. Seventeen of these tickets are worth $40,000 each because they also included the Megaplier.
Record-Breaking Jackpot and Cash Value
The current jackpot of $825 million has a cash value of $382.2 million, making it a substantial prize for anyone who wins it. If claimed, it would become the largest Mega Millions prize ever awarded in December and the seventh-largest jackpot in the history of the game. Since its last win in Texas on September 10, which had an $810 million prize, the jackpot has grown consistently across 28 drawings.
This year has seen fewer winners, with only three Mega Millions jackpots claimed in 2024—the fewest since the game began. The largest jackpot this year was a $1.128 billion prize won in New Jersey on March 26. However, the winner has yet to claim the prize, and the ticket will expire if not claimed by March 26, 2025.
Odds and Next Drawing
While the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot stand at 1 in 302,575,350, the chances of winning any prize are much better—1 in 24. The next drawing will take place on Friday, December 20, at 11 p.m. ET in Atlanta, Georgia. Players have until the drawing to purchase tickets for their chance at the massive prize.
