Minions Ice Sculptures: Chillingly Cute!
Wanna have some frozen fun? From freezer to friend, here’s how to make your own Minions for your next party! I was inspired to try this after seeing these impressive Minions ice sculptures while we were traveling through the Twin Cities! Hehe.
Minions Ice Sculptures
One of the cutest discoveries Jack and I made this winter happened while driving in a nondescript Twin Cities suburb. We were visiting a friend and she mentioned we should “check out the Minions” which were just a few blocks from her house. Boy, were we glad we did! These impressively cute ice sculptures were lovingly created by a family for the whole neighborhood to enjoy!
By the way, you can see just how much snow we got here in Minnesota this year. It’s been a winter for the record books, that’s for sure!
What are Minions?
If you’re not familiar, Minions are fictional characters from the animated movie franchise “Despicable Me” and its spin-off film “Minions”. They are small, yellow, cylindrical creatures with one or two eyes and are known for their comical, childlike behavior and language.
The Minions’ main goal in life is to serve the most despicable master they can find, and they have worked for a variety of villains throughout the movies, including Gru, Scarlet Overkill, and Balthazar Bratt. The Minions have become widely popular and are often depicted in merchandise and pop culture references.
Wanna Make Your Own (Mini) Minions Ice Sculptures?
If you’re like me, it’s doubtful you have the time (or the desire to freeze your booty off in the cold) making huge Minions in your front yard. But, seeing these amazing ice sculptures got me to thinking: how could I make my own minions?
Well, if you’re looking for a fun and unique way to decorate for a party or event, why not try creating Minion ice sculptures? These cute and lovable characters from the Despicable Me franchise are perfect for transforming into icy works of art.
Creating your own snazzy Minion ice sculptures is a lot easier than you might think. Here are the basic steps:
1. Find a mold
To make your Minion ice sculptures, you’ll need a mold that is the right size and shape. You can either purchase a Minion mold online, or create your own by sculpting a Minion out of clay and using it as a model for your ice.
2. Fill the mold
Once you have your mold, fill it with water and place it in the freezer. Depending on the size of your mold, it may take several hours or even a few days for the water to freeze completely.

3. Remove the ice
When the ice is fully frozen, remove the mold from the freezer and carefully remove the ice sculpture from the mold. If your mold is flexible, you may be able to bend it and release the ice more easily.
4. Add details
To give your Minion ice sculpture its distinctive features, you can add details using food coloring or other materials. Use black food coloring to create the Minion’s goggles and hair, and yellow food coloring to create the body and overalls. You can also add eyes and other details using fondant or other edible materials.
5. Display your sculpture
Once you’ve finished adding details to your Minion ice sculpture, it’s time to display it! You can place it on a platter or tray and surround it with other icy decorations, or place it on a table as a centerpiece.
