MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Nothing beats the crisp Minnesota winter air, a warm cup of mulled wine, and the sound of Christmas carols. It’s that magical time of year again – Christmas market season! Families in the Twin Cities have a new spot to experience the festive joy – at the new Minneapolis Christkindl Market. And if you’re traveling this month, don’t miss the new video my hubby Jack and I made at the bottom of this article – it’s a tour of the best Christmas markets in the United States!
A New Holiday Tradition in the North Loop
The Minneapolis Christkindl Market kicked off on November 22 at North Loop Green, located at 350 North 5th St., right across from Target Field. This European-style Christmas market will be open every Friday through Sunday, running until December 22.
Set against the backdrop of the city’s bustling downtown, it brings a lively, urban holiday atmosphere that reflects the charm and festive spirit of traditional European markets.
European Delights and Local Flavor
At the market, visitors discover an exciting mix of live music, fun activities for children, and an array of food and handcrafted gifts. The market features 30 local vendors representing 15 different countries, offering everything from unique handmade goods to delicious seasonal treats.
Plan to indulge in classic European fare like Burbach’s famous German potato pancakes, the rich and flavorful Swiss raclette, and Turkish Lokma, among many others. It’s an experience meant to celebrate both the global nature of the season and the local craftsmanship of Minnesota’s vibrant community.
A Growing Holiday Market Scene in the Twin Cities
The Minneapolis Christkindl Market joins a growing tradition of holiday markets around the Twin Cities (check out their website here).
St. Paul’s Best Christmas Market welcome visitors at Union Depot, beginning on November 29 (more info here), while the Dayton’s Market at Nicollet Mall continues its festive run through December 28 (additional info here). Together, these events create a winter wonderland that families can explore, each offering its own unique take on the holiday spirit.
As visitors stroll through the markets, sipping hot cocoa and enjoying the holiday cheer, it’s clear that these festive gatherings are about more than just shopping or eating. It’s about creating memories with loved ones, embracing the warmth of the season, and celebrating community. Whether you’re browsing for unique gifts or simply soaking in the joyful atmosphere, Christmas Markets offer a perfect escape from the winter chill, bringing a touch of European magic right to the heart of the Twin Cities. Merry Christmas!
