Late Night Blaze Erupts in Uptown!
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Minneapolis woke up to chaos on Monday as several businesses in the Uptown neighborhood experienced an unexpected disaster. Early morning dumpster fires led to significant damage, with one local tattoo shop, The Ink Lab, bearing the brunt of the flames.
Firefighters Battle Multiple Blazes
At around 3:25 a.m., emergency services rushed to 917 West Lake Street.
They discovered a raging dumpster fire that had spread to the building and an electrical transformer. The transformer’s sparks added to the danger and complexity of the situation.
Local Business Suffers Damage
The Ink Lab, located on the ground floor of the two-story building, suffered minor smoke and water damage.
Firefighters managed to control the blaze, but not before it rendered the upstairs apartment uninhabitable. The building’s power was knocked out, leaving The Ink Lab in the dark.
Firestarter Arrested
As firefighters worked to douse the initial fire, they received alarming reports of a man setting more dumpsters and garbage cans ablaze nearby.
The quick-thinking crew spotted a suspect and notified the police. Authorities soon arrested the man, whose identity remains under wraps.
Community Reaction
The Ink Lab took to Facebook (give them a like here) to inform customers about the incident and temporary closure, stating, “Currently, we do not have power, so we are closed for the day, but hopefully, we will be back up and running tomorrow.”
Their message also highlighted the bizarre nature of the morning’s events. The Facebook post says in full:
“Well, it’s been a dumpster fire of a morning around here. Somebody went around Uptown lighting dumpsters on fire – and our building caught fire from the burning dumpster. Nobody got injured, and the shop has minor smoke and water issues. Currently we do not have power, so we are closed for the day, but hopefully we will be back up and running tomorrow. Stay safe out there.”
No Injuries Reported
Despite the chaos, there were no injuries reported. The community now faces the aftermath of this senseless act, with businesses assessing damage and making plans to reopen.
The Bigger Picture
This incident has left Uptown residents and business owners on edge, questioning the safety of their neighborhood. The bizarre and destructive spree has raised concerns and highlighted the need for heightened vigilance.
