Police responded to initial reports late Friday night but were unable to locate the suspect. However, the situation escalated in the early hours of Saturday when residents began reporting gunfire inside the apartment building, prompting an urgent response from law enforcement.

The frightening episode began around 10:50 p.m. Friday, when concerned residents in the 4000 block of Minnehaha Avenue reported a man walking the streets with a shotgun. Despite efforts to locate him, officers were unable to find the individual.
Hours later, at around 4:30 a.m., calls flooded in again, this time describing the man shooting inside an apartment building.
Residents told police they heard gunfire, glass shattering, and pounding on doors. Upon arrival, officers discovered bullet holes in the building’s entrance and spent shell casings scattered across the floor.
As they searched the premises, they found an open apartment with a shotgun abandoned on the floor.
As the gunman continued to fire rounds from an AK-47-style rifle, law enforcement officers quickly moved to evacuate the residents. With the shooter barricaded in a stairwell, police deployed SWAT teams and negotiators in an attempt to safely resolve the crisis.

Shooter Apprehended After Intense Confrontation
After several tense hours, an officer ultimately shot the suspect around 5:30 a.m., subduing him in the stairwell where he was found armed with multiple weapons, including an AK-47-style rifle and a .45-caliber handgun.
Police immediately rendered medical aid before transporting him to Hennepin Healthcare Hospital with a serious gunshot wound. Authorities have since reported his condition as stable.
Investigators revealed that the shooter, who lived in the apartment building, had been carrying a backpack with additional ammunition and loaded magazines.
He was also wearing a non-ballistic military-style vest at the time of the arrest, adding to the fears of residents caught in the terrifying ordeal.
