Meet the Fluffball: Duke, The Great Pyrenees

If you’ve never seen a Great Pyrenees before, just imagine a cloud with a wagging tail and soulful eyes. 🌥️👀

These gentle giants usually sport a pure white, plush coat, perfect for endless cuddles. Duke had that regal look, making it no surprise that he won the hearts of Cormorant residents. ❤️

A Landslide Victory

Duke won his first election in what locals call a “landslide,” with 75% of the votes! 🎉

Even his human opponent, local store owner Richard Sherbrook, cast a vote for Duke. Sherbrook was all class, fully supporting Duke and saying he’d “really protect the town.” 🤝

The Perks of Being Mayor

Mayor Duke wasn’t all about political life; he enjoyed the simpler things too. The pup was a regular at the village pub, munching on burgers and chips. 🍔🍟

Plus, his mayoral perks included a year’s supply of dog food from Tuffy’s Pet Food store. 🐾🥫

Duke made a tangible difference in Cormorant. Locals noticed he’d slow down cars going too fast. His low-key nature also became a beloved talking point. 🚗

Never underestimate the importance of a mayor’s attire! Duke had a vintage top hat and an adorable red collar with a button that said “Mayor.”🎩

A truly stylish American leader! 🇺🇸

Furry Politicians: Not Just a Minnesota Thing

Cormorant isn’t the only place where animals run for office. From goats in Brazil to mules in Washington and even a cat in Michigan—there are plenty of stories of animals making their mark in politics! 🐐🐴🐱

By the way, my hubby Jack is so inspired by Duke’s story, he also decided to run for mayor here in Winona, Minnesota! I wish he was joking, but I don’t think he is. 😹

Legacy of a Furry Leader

Duke taught us that the best leaders could come in all shapes, sizes, and even species. His leadership was all about integrity, loyalty, and unconditional love. 🐶❤️

So next time you think politics is a zoo, remember, it can literally be one—especially in places as special as Cormorant! 🦓🦒🦁
