Minnesota Has A New Flag Today – But Not Everyone Is Happy! What Do You Think?

🚩 It’s official: Minnesota’s got a brand new flag today and it’s already turning heads! 🆕 Why the redesign? See why it’s got people talking! 🤔 #mnflag #minnesota #minnesotanews

St. Paul, MN – Say goodbye to the old Minnesota flag that blended in with a bunch of other state flags. You know, the ones with tiny pictures on a blue background that you can barely make out from far away. Well, now we’ve got a brand new flag that’s gonna stand out like a beacon of Minnesotan pride! But not everyone is happy. Read to find out why – and how to make your voice heard.

Starting on May 11, 2024, Statehood Day, the new flag design will be flyin’ high all across the state. It’s a big deal because now when you see our flag, you’ll know right away that it’s Minnesota’s without having to squint your eyes and guess.

🎨 Picking the Perfect Design

It wasn’t easy pickin’ the new flag design, let me tell ya. The state put together a whole commission to figure it out, and they had to sort through over 2,000 ideas sent in by regular folks like you and me. There were some pretty wild ones in there, like a flag with a dog on it and another with a loon shooting lasers out of its eyes!

In the end, they settled on a design made by Andrew Prekker, a young artist from Luverne, Minnesota who’s only 24 years old. Can you believe it? The kid’s barely out of college and he’s already made his mark on Minnesota history!

🌟 Out with the Old, In with the Blue

The new flag is a real beaut. It’s got a special style that makes Minnesota stand out from the crowd. Ted Kaye, who’s like the flag expert of North America, gave it an A+ rating. He said it’s different from every other state flag he’s ever seen, and that’s sayin’ something because this guy knows his flags!

Some folks aren’t too happy about the change, though. They think the new design is too plain and doesn’t have enough Minnesota-specific stuff on it. Others just liked the old flag better. But hey, you can’t please everyone, right?

🎉 Celebrating a New Era

No matter how you feel about the new flag, you gotta admit it’s a pretty exciting time for Minnesota. We’re turning over a new leaf and starting fresh with a flag that represents who we are as a state.

So, let’s raise a glass (or some tater tot hotdish) to the new Minnesota flag and all the good things to come! Here’s to hoping it flies proudly for many years to come.

Sorry but I’m not a fan….. there is so much that Minnesota stands for and what we’re getting shoved down our throat reminds me of something from a third world country. Seems like this whole thing was rushed and now when people outside of Minnesota see it they won’t have a clue what state it represents….. so sad …. Let’s lose our states identity….. this is another step

Again it was a solution for a problem that did not exist. Another feels good thing that cost all tax payers money and accomplished nothing except try to change or eliminate our true history

  3. Not happy with the new flag change at all! Where’s our history! What sets us a part as a state really doesn’t come through in this simplified design.

  4. Hey Mary! Thanks for reading and for commenting. We kinda wishes the “laser loon” would have won. Or maybe some tater tot hotdish? Hehe. Seriously though, have a great weekend! – Jack and Kitty

  6. Hey Brian – Yeah, we definitely think the design leaves a bit to be desired too. Thanks for reading and for commenting. Much appreciated. Have a great weekend! – Jack and Kitty
