University of Minnesota Student Creates Revolutionary Snow-Cleaning Robot
Say goodbye to early morning shoveling with Nivoso, the innovative snow-cleaning robot invented by a University of Minnesota student! #SnowRobot #Innovation #Nivoso
Minneapolis, Minnesota – Meet a young man named Max Minakov. He’s a University of Minnesota student who has turned his childhood frustration of shoveling snow into an innovative solution.
As a sixth grader, Minakov disliked waking up early to clear snow, which led him to develop Nivoso, a robot that cleans snow during storms. The name Nivoso, meaning “snowy” in Latin, reflects its purpose. This robot can keep up with any amount of snowfall and is designed to be modular, allowing for future enhancements like salt dispersing and lawn mowing.
Minakov’s inspiration came from his inventor grandfather, with whom he built playgrounds and treehouses. This collaboration eventually led to the creation of Nivoso.
The robot recently won the 2023 Minnesota Cup, securing $26,000 in prize money. Minakov hopes Nivoso will aid those unable to shovel snow, saving them time and hassle during the winter season.
It’s an invention that could only be born in Minnesota, right?!
Currently, Nivoso is in its beta version, with a finalized design expected next winter. Minakov aims to enter the commercial space and has already attracted interest from snow clearing companies.
He also hopes to inspire other young entrepreneurs to develop solutions to common problems, believing that being a problem solver can propel the next generation forward.
