First up is Carley State Park (50366 Wabasha County Rd 4, Plainview, MN 55964), arguably the best park in Minnesota for spring wildflowers. Next, make your way to Nerstrand Big Woods State Park (9700 170th St E, Nerstrand, MN 55053). While it may not have the same Bluff Country topography as Carley, Nerstrand’s big woods still nurtures an abundance of spring flowers, including Dutchman’s breeches and Virginia spring beauties.

The final stop on your flower-filled road trip is Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary (1 Theodore Wirth Pkwy, Minneapolis, MN 55405) at Theodore Wirth Regional Park in Golden Valley. This urban wildlife oasis is sure to have several species of wildflowers in bloom. As you stroll the grounds, don’t forget to bring a pair of binoculars – spring migration will be in full swing, and you never know what feathered friends you might spot.
