Zumbrota, Minnesota – Step back in time and enjoy the magic of cinema in the charming town of Zumbrota, Minnesota. The State Theatre, a real gem, is the oldest working movie theater in the state, and it’s still shining bright with its vintage allure and modern movie magic.
Built in 1921 for just $38,000 by the talented August Klug and designed by local architect Charles L. Grover, this theater has seen it all. In its heyday, it seated 400 eager moviegoers and hosted vaudeville shows, radio performances, plays, and silent films. When “talkies” hit the scene in 1929, it became a hub for movies.
